Melaka United’s reserve goalkeeper Marco Stefen Petrovski is currently in critical condition after he was struck by lightning earlier today.
The Serbian/Australian player – who has been naturalized – was training with Melaka United’s President Cup squad at the Padang Sepuluh in Malacca earlier today when he was struck by lightning, alongside another player in the form of Muhammad Afiq Azuan.
According to NST and Harian Metro, both players were immediately rushed to the hospital, where they were admitted into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Afiq has apparently regained consciousness, while Petrovski is reportedly still unconcious. “Afiq is in stable condition and unhurt, but traumatized,” Team Manager, Khairi Ahmad was quoted as saying by NST.
Since the news broke, plenty of well-wishes have been posted on social media.
