Johor Darul Ta’azim (JDT) will be on high alert when Perak visits the Tan Sri Dato Hassan Yunos Stadium for their sixth Malaysia Super League (MSL) encounter later tonight.
The Southern Tigers head coach Mario Gomez has told his players not to take the Bos Gaurus lightly because they have the physical and technical ability to create a few problems.
“Perak is a good team. They have passionate players and I believe that passion has made them a team to be feared this season,” Mario Gomez said as quoted by Sinar Harian.
“In addition, they are surrounded by a number of young players that can pose a threat to us. I expect them to play counter-attacking football and they will hurt us when they can.
Mario Gomez vowed to sort out his tactics after JDT made countless errors despite winning the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) 5-2 in their Superbest Power FA Cup tie last week.
“Perak will attempt to play short passes and break through the wings. They are capable of running back quickly to clear the ball in case they lose it in the counter-attacks.
“I think that they will tire out and my team will capitalize on their mistakes when they can.
Singaporean international Hariss Harun may be handed a start after returning from injury, and Juan Martin Lucero, who is on good form, might start as well later tonight.
WHAT DO WE THINK?
Mario Gomez is right about one thing — Perak’s passion. They have been defensively sound all season long, conceding two goals in five games, which is tied for joint-best amount of goals conceded along with JDT. The Argentinian head coach was heavily criticized for a poor tactical performance when they faced PDRM last week in the Superbest Power FA Cup. He will need to step up his game and tell his players to treat tonight’s tie like a final, because if they do not get three points out of it, FELDA United will remain top and continue the season dominating the rest of the teams in the MSL.
FELDA United won last night, now it’s time for JDT to prove their worth.
