English Premier League: Sunday Wrap Up

Manchester United secured a last-gasp draw against Chelsea, courtesy of Robin van Persie’s injury time strike. In the absence of Diego Costa, Chelsea started a little slowly off the mark, but eventually got the lead through Didier Drogba.

Branislav Ivanovic was then sent off for a second bookable offence, before van Persie fired home on the 94th minute to rescue them at the death.

Tottenham Hotspur suffered a demoralizing 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United, who look like they are finally getting a hold of their form. Emmanuel Adebayor placed Spurs ahead in the first half, before Sammy Ameobi only took a few seconds after being brought on at half time, to restore parity for the Magpies.

Newcastle kept pushing and Remy Cabella ultimately threaded an excellent pass for Ayoze Perez, who made no mistakes by putting it into the back of the net to give Newcastle a much needed victory.

Everton meanwhile, continued their relatively impressive form with a crucial 3-1 victory over Burnley last night. Samuel E’to stroke first blood early on in the game, before a mistake from Romelu Lukaku allowed Danny Ings to equalize on the 20th minute mark.

But just nine minutes later, Lukaku amended his mistake with a well-taken strike, which restored their lead in the game. Everton continued to dominate the game, and Samuel E’to scored his second of the night on the 85th minute, to ensure a comfortable victory for the Toffees.
