Malaysian swimmer Jordan Yip successfully set a new personal record during the Malaysian Schools Sports Council (MSSM) Swimming Championship by claiming his tenth gold medal in the Under-18 event.
The stellar achievement serves as a platform for Jordan to prepare himself for the upcoming Malaysian Games (SUKMA) this July and the young athlete even claimed that he would do his best to emerge as the best swimmer in the event.
Not only did the 17 year-old set a personal best, he also managed to erase Johor’s Tia’a Faang Der’s record in the 400m Open individual medley with a total time of 4:43.41s, replacing Faang Der’s record of 4:44.73s in 2013.
Jordan’s desire for an eleventh gold medal was cast aside when he ended the 200m breaststroke event in second place, trailing behind team mate Ng Yi Hao.
“It was definitely delightful, the fact that I got to create a new record in this championship. This proves that I’m on the right track and my next goal is to try and achieve better time records below 4:44:00s,” he said a quoted from Harian Metro.
“My outcome in the 400m event was exactly the same as it was in the Malaysian Open last year,” he added.
If you think ten is a lot, the young gun is not done yet. He has high hopes of winning three more races today, namely the 400m freestyle, 200m butterfly and 4x100m freestyle relay.
