The transfer fee of just over £10 million that West Ham United spent on Dimitri Payet is proving to be a bargain every time the Frenchman steps on a pitch for The Hammers.
The 28 year-old attacking midfielder scored an incredible free-kick from 25 yards out to take the lead against Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup at Old Trafford last night. He was fouled by Daley Blind on the 68th minute of the tie and immediately stepped up and curled the ball to the top corner, completely beating David de Gea in the process.
However, some Manchester United fans deemed him lucky to still be on the pitch after escaping a second yellow card a few minutes earlier for diving in the penalty box.
Dimitri Payet’s goal was cancelled out by Anthony Martial on the 83rd minute and the fight for the last semi-final spot will be decided by a replay at Upton Park later this month.
