Kelantan and Sarawak battled out a competitive 2-2 draw at the Kota Bharu stadium earlier today, with K. Rajagobal’s men earning their first point of the season.
Players from both sides exhibited a rather average performance. However, Baze Ilijoski of Kelantan FA managed to edge over everyone else for the Man of the Match award.
The 31 year-old Macedonian forward scored both goals for Kelantan. Both goals were materialized through Ilijoski’s poaching abilities, which was displayed to perfection in his first goal. He showcased composure and clever positioning to outplay the defender creating a one-on-one situation with the keeper, eventually striking it home.
Ilijoski also had 2 shots at goal, and even though they were off target, it still managed to challenge the Crocs’ shot-stopper. The forward was also effective in his defensive roles, intercepting passes and pressuring the Crocs’ players, forcing them to slow down the tempo of the game.
The forward also showcased his playmaking ability as he created a chance for goal for Dramane Traore but was unfortunately cleared by the Golden Deers’ defence.
Jonatan Lucca and Wan Zack were also highly influential for Kelantan in the match as they provided the assist for Kelantan’s two goals. Wan Zack dominated the right-side of the field while Lucca held of pressure from the opponents in the middle of the field, not forgetting Kelantan’s Makeche who scored the 2 goals for his club.
Despite all that, Baze Ilijoski managed to take the cake due to his passion in the game that boosted Kelantan, especially after his equalizer.
