Johor Darul Ta’azim have confirmed the signing Independiente attacker Juan Martin Lucero, who is set to become their fourth foreign player for this year’s Malaysian football calendar.
The 24 year-old Argentinian is a directly replacement for Paulo Rangel, who was demoted to Johor DT II after failing to impress the coaching staff.
In a statement released on their Facebook page, Johor DT said: “I would like to inform you that we have signed Juan Martin Lucero from the Argentine club Independiente. We have a lot of options. But, we believe that he is the most suitable player for JDT.
“After having a meeting with JDT Sports Director Alistair Edwards, Manager Mario Gomez, Assistant Coach Raul, Club Agent and Scouts Martin Prest, Nasir Yusof, Luciano Figueroa, and also our other scouts in Argentina, we feel that he is the player most suitable for us. Having a young player is always good because they have value and they can be considered as our club’s asset.
Juan is primarily an attacking midfielder, though he’s equally capable of pulling the strings upfront, where he is expected to supplement Jorge Diaz’s presence as their center forward.
He is scheduled to arrive in Johor Bahru tomorrow, and will be unveiled in an official press conference that’s expected to take place on Thursday.
