Johor DT could be set for a bumper signing after a source confirmed to us that they could potentially be set to finalize a move for Selangor defender Azrif Nasrulhaq.
The Southern Tigers have been monitoring Azrif for a while now, though their eyebrows were significantly raised during Selangor’s momentous Malaysia Cup run in 2015, where Azrif excelled in his role.
Despite being a key part of Zainal Abidin’s plans for 2016, JDT’s offer was too hard for Azrif to resist, coupled with the stability that comes with any potential move to the Southern Tigers.
Having clinched the AFC Cup title last year, JDT are looking to expand their squad in order to sustain the expectations that will inherently be placed on them.
They’ve already brought on Paulo Rangel – a credible MSL goalscorer – from Terengganu FA, besides snapping up speedy winger Azamuddin Akil from rivals Pahang FA.
Azrif’s arrival now is surely set to strengthen their squad significantly and the competition for a starting spot will inevitably be strong – Kunanlan and Mahali are the other two right-backs vying for the position.
