Previously, national women’s doubles shuttler Woon Khe Wei stated that pressuring herself to qualify in the 2016 Rio Olympics is the last thing she would ever do. The same statement works for her partner Vivian Hoo as the other half as finally voiced out her opinion of dealing with expectations.
Vivian conceded that the pair had not deliver the best performance in 2015 and claimed that their delivery was the best in 2014 where they triumphed with a gold medal in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and the Incheon Asian Games.
“I hope 2016 will be on our side because we only have a few months left to qualify for the Rio Olympics. Woon Khe Wei and I will try our best because pressure definitely getting onto us,” said Vivian as quoted from Harian Metro.
However, Vivian is doing her absolute best to reject the pressure as it may affect their rhythm and performance if she thinks too much about it.
“The stress is there, but I want to enjoy the game. It’s no use to give pressure to yourself, what we need is to achieve a good result.”
Vivian also claimed that the championships this year will be double the toughness as new and strong players are slowly making their way into the tournaments, gunning for a Rio slot too.
“Not only should we take part in the Super Series, but we also need to play in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Gold. The first round of the Super Series would definitely be harder than a GP Gold or GP.”
