Zulfadli Zulkifli is refusing to draw white flag on his hopes of qualifying for this year’s Olympic Games, which is set to take place in Rio de Janeiro, later this year.
According to BWF, Malaysia will only be allowed to send two men’s singles shuttlers to Rio, if both of them are within the top 16 bracket of the World Rankings.
Unfortunately, Zulfadli is currently ranked 42 but while his chances of making it are getting slimmer by the day, the man himself is not ready to give up on his dreams, just yet.
“I’ll be competing in six to eight tournaments before May, so I’m not ready to give up yet,” he told Sinar Harian
“I know some people think it’s too late for me to make it now, but I still have a slim chance and I intend to use that chance, so we’ll see what happens.
“If you look at my performance throughout 2015, it wasn’t too bad. I did make to the semis and finals of several tournaments.
“Yes I understand that it was topsy-turvy at times, but compared to other shuttlers in Malaysia, I’m still pretty decent,” he added.
