Perhaps the grass is greener in North America for Malaysian men’s doubles powerhouse Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong as they are aiming to clinch their second consecutive title, with the Mexico Open getting underway today.
The national duo claimed their first ever international title a few days ago at the US Open Grand Prix after defeating Russian pair Vladimir Ivanov and Ivan Sozonow in two straight sets within 27 minutes.
According to V Shem, their victory on in California may just be a good omen for the two to triumph in the Mexico Open.
“It was utterly delightful when got to win our first international title,” said V Shem as quoted from Sinar Harian.
“No we can build back our confidence and hopefully get deliver consistency after this.”
“Personally, I feel that we can perform better because we’re getting much more compatible in terms of our teamwork.”
“I believe we can maintain this rhythm and bag our second title of the year.”
V Shem and Wee Kiong had both received a first-round bye and could have the chance of playing either German pair Jonathan Persson and Matej Hlinican or American pair Mathew Fogarty-Bjorn Seguin in the next round.
