Pahang’s head coach Zainal Abidin Hassan is still refusing to speak about rumours that are linking him with a move to Selangor next season, claiming that his future with Pahang will be discussed soon.
Zainal is reportedly being targeted by Selangor to replace Mehmet Durakovic, despite their solid showing this year, but after exiting the Malaysia Cup last weekend, Zainal is now opting to get some rest, before thinking about his future.
“Let me rest first, before I sit down with the Pahang management and discuss about my future,” he told Harian Metro.
The Elephants were ironically knocked out by Selangor, after the Red Giants sealed a 2-0 aggregate win to progress into the final of the Malaysia Cup. The defeat effectively ended Pahang’s hopes of clinching one trophy this year, though Zainal isn’t perturbed by it.
“We’re not going down the doldrums in any way. We finished second in the league, made it to the semis of the FA Cup, made it to the quarters of the AFC Cup and now we also made it to the semis of the Malaysia Cup,” he added.
