Pahang’s Zainal Abidin confident of claiming Selangor scalp

Pahang head coach Zainal Abidin Hassan believes that his men are more than capable of triumphing over Selangor in the second leg of their Malaysia Cup semi-finals tie this weekend.

Both teams played out a 0-0 draw in Kuantan on Tuesday, meaning that Selangor will go into the second leg with the advantage of knowing that the tie will be decided in front of their own fans. Zainal though, happens to think otherwise.

“We still have a very good chance because there’s 90 minutes left and our record against Selangor at the Shah Alam Stadium is encouraging,” he told Harian Metro.

“I believe that with commitment, my players can repeat our accomplishments in 2013 and 2014 – retaining the Malaysia Cup title.

Selangor will be equally motivated for the tie, knowing that they are merely steps away from completing the coveted ‘Mission 33’ by winning their 33rd Malaysia Cup title.

The second leg tie will take place this Sunday, with kick off slated for 8.45PM
