Hong Kong Open: Wee Wern suffers second round exit

Low Wee Wern is out of the Hong Kong Open after she was sent packing in the second round of the tournament, yesterday.

Playing in her first tournament since the Windy City Open in February, Wee Wern did a decent job in the first round, to edge over …. but she could not sustain the momentum in her second round tie against Raneem El Weilely.

In fact, she was forced to pull out of the tie in the third set, after noticing that her injury hadn’t recovered completely. She was down by two sets at that point in time, losing 9-11 dan 3-11.

“Playing against Raneem with two strong legs is already a difficult task, and doing it with one leg is virtually impossible,” she was quoted as saying by Harian Metro.

On the other hand, Nicol David is through to the quarters of the Hong Kong Open after beating compatriot Delia Arnold 11-1, 11-4, 11-3.
