The Malaysian diving team has been showing great improvements throughout the year but due to the increasing amounts of injuries sustained by the divers, head coach Yang Zhuliang has been in immense agony.
“The Malaysian divers have been getting better and better this year as a whole but with some of them getting old, there is bound to and decrease in health performance,” said Zhuliang as quoted from China Press.
“But of course, it is normal for an aging person to get sick,” he adds.
“We need to improve the medical treatments for athletes. However, in the case of Malaysia, the sports medicine industry has yet to blossom. Unlike in China, where sports medicine is a professional industry. Athletes are able to get speedy and efficient treatment any time.
“The national diving team is certainly improving in many aspects but at the same time, divers from other countries are not lacking behind, they too are getting better. Especially divers from the US and England.
“Their performances are always improving and they dedicate themselves to do even better in the Olympics. Teams in Germany and US had even fled to Brazil to train so that they can get a better feeling of the atmosphere.”
The Malaysian diving squad will be competing at the 2016 FINA Diving World Cup in Brazil before competing in several other Super Series ahead of the Rio Olympics.
