Nicol David drops to No. 3 on PSA World Rankings

National squash queen Datuk Nicol Ann David has slipped from second to third on the world rankings according the list issued by the PSA Tour yesterday.

The eight time world champion has been struggling for form over the past few months, which was largely discussed in an open letter that we wrote to her recently. Nicol responded on Twitter by vowing to bounce back from her slump at the ongoing Hong Kong Open.

She will also be looking to clinch her ninth World Championship title on home soil later this month, though there are doubts on whether the tournament would proceed as planned, with ‘security concerns’ allegedly providing a cause for worry.

The news garnered the attention of Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, who posted a tweet in response to our story yesterday, urging the organizers to be transpared with the alleged ‘security concern’.

In other news, Low Wee Wern is through to the second round of the Hong Kong Open after securing a narrow win over Coline Aumard, yesterday. It was her first match after returning to competitive action – having been sidelined for the last nine months due to a knee injury.
