Low Wee Wern is through to the second round of the Hong Kong Open after a close win over Coline Aumard yesterday.
The 25 year-old has been out of competitive action since the Windy City Open in February due to a knee injury. But while she was forced to dig deep in her first official battle in over nine months, Wee Wern eventually sealed a 11-7, 4-11, 9-11, 11-5, 14-12 win to book her spot in the next round.
“I’m still not moving that well because I still have some pain in my knee,” she said, as quoted from PSAWorldTour.com
“I had to really slow it down on there because my movement is hampered. I was a little lucky in the end but it’s great to get a win – it’s very pleasing.
“Once you’re an athlete you always want to win and compete. I’ve missed so much and I don’t want to miss out on any more,” she added.
Nicol David on the other hand, will be getting her Hong Kong Open campaign underway, later today.
