Maria Sharapova made a stop in Phuket before flying to Singapore for the BNP Paribas WTA Finals, which runs from October 17th to the 26th.
The stop marks the second visit to the Southeast Asian nation for the newly ranked World Number 2.
The trip saw Sharapova conducting a motivational talk and training session for the students of Thanyapura’s Elite Junior Sports Academies, which claims to have the finest world-class Olympic training facilities in Asia.
Thanyapura even developed a new concoction to honour the Russian tennis darling during her visit there. The recipe for the signature smoothie is kiwi, cucumber, kale, mint and pineapple or apple for sweetness.
The healthy drink, named the Sharapova Smoothie, is now available at Thanyapura.
Sharapova will make her seventh appearance in the WTA Finals in Singapore. She qualified for the first time in the season-ending tournament at Los Angeles in 2004, where she defeated Serena Williams to clinch the title. Since then, Sharapova has not been able to repeat his victorious debut in the WTA Finals. She finished as a runner-up in 2007 and in 2012.
