Malaysia Cup QF: Pahang run riot, Southern Tigers held by Felda

Pahang were on absolute fire at the Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan as they claimed a comprehensive 4-1 win in the first leg of their Malaysia Cup Quarter-Final tie against LionsXII. Hafiz Kamal opened the scoring early on in the first half, before Matias Conti made it 2-0 on the 53rd minute mark. Merely six minutes later, Dickson fired home to make it 3-0 before Gopinathan added a fourth goal on the 67th minute. Though LionsXII managed to find a consolation strike through Safuwan Baharuddin right at the end of the game, Pahang will visibly head into the second leg as massive favourites to progress into the semis.

Meanwhile, Felda United and Johor DT played out an entertaining 1-1 draw at the Selayang Stadium. The hosts shocked the recently crowned AFC Cup champions by taking the lead through Thiago Agusto on the 7th minute. They held on to that lead confidently and were on the verge of claiming a valuable win, before Amirulhadi continued his goalscoring form by scoring a last-gasp equalizer, and at the same time securing a crucial away goal as well.

PKNS managed to hold Kedah to a 1-1 draw at the Darul Aman Stadium in Alor Star, thanks to their foreign star striker, Pedro Henrique. In what was a closely contested match, both teams struggled to break each other down, though Kedah finally striked first blood on the 75th minute with Syazwan Zainon slotting home to put the hosts ahead. Henrique though, spearheaded a comeback and scored the equalizer merely five minutes before the end of the game, to seize a valuable away goal.

Selangor on the other hand, secured a narrow 2-1 away win over Sarawak, putting them in the driving seat ahead of the second leg. Hazwan Bakri broke the deadlock on the 35th minute, before Billy Mehmet restored parity on the 59th minute. The score looked set to remain for the rest of the game, though Afiq Azmi had other ideas. He scored the winning goal right at the end of the game, to complete a morale-boosting win for the Red Giants.
