Malaysian squash player Nafiizwan Adnan is through to the second round of the Men’s World Squash Championship after beating England’s Charles Sharpes in Washington, yesterday.
The 29-year-old player took 48 minutes to beat Sharpes 11-5, 11-8, 11-9, effectively advancing into the next round of the championship.
Nafiizwan was visibly pleased with his performance and is already setting his sights on scaling bigger heights.
“I was fully focused on the first and second set. Squash is all about mental strength, so I made sure my smashes were going in the right corner,” he told Utusan Malaysia.
“Charles is good player, but I think I managed to carry my momentum from the first set until the third set, which allowed me to win comfortably. Hopefully I can go further, this year,” he added.
Nafiizwan is set to face seventh seed Omar Mosaad from Egypt in the second round of the World Championships today.
