Malaysian shooters remain confident of sealing Rio slots

Malaysian elite shooters are still optimistic of acquiring enough points to secure their Rio slots, despite being unable to do so at the recent Asian Shooting Championship (ASC) in Kuwait.

The tournament was converted into an invitational tournament, after the International Olympics Committee revoked it’s Olympic qualification status in response to the issue regarding an Israeli shooter who was denied an entry visa into Kuwait, as well as the suspension of the Kuwait National Olympic Council.

Despite that, Abdul Hadi Abdul Malek remains optimistic of collecting enough points to compete in Rio and is already setting his sights on doing well at the upcoming Southeast Asian Shooting Championship (SEASA) in Indonesia

“It’s sad to not be able to collect Olympic points at the ASC this time around. Now, I’m already focusing on the SEASA and I want to make use of this opportunity to prove my mettle in this tournament.

“Hopefully, I can replicate the form I had in Kuwait,” he told Harian Metro.

As far Nur Suryani Mohamed Taibi, she is just determined to improve on her showing at the 2014 edition of SEASA in Singapore.

“I hope I can do better, conpared to last year. Also, I didn’t get to win any medal in Kuwait, but I think I can win something in SEASA. I’ve just got to be consistent with my performance,” she added.
