Malaysian men’s singles coach Hendrawan has urged Lee Chong Wei to not think of his potential semi-final bout against Lin Dan, at the China Open Super Series; instead suggesting that he should take each match as it comes.
Chong Wei will be facing Ng Ka Long from Hong Kong in the first round, and potentially Chou Thien Chen in the second round. Should he go through, he faces the possibly of taking on Jan O Jorgensen in the quarters before what should be a mouth-watering duel against Lin Dan in the semis.
Hendrawan though, thinks it’s pointless to focus on the possible Lin Dan duel.
“In any tournament, we can never underestimate other players. Prior to this, he’s lost to unseeded players, so it’s crucial for him to take one match at a time.
“There are still a lot of things we need to work on, it’s all up to him. What’s important is that he remains focused and patient. He will eventually be rewarded,” Hendrawan added.
Chong Wei is currently ranked 9th on the BWF World Rankings and he’ll be looking to break into the Top 4 by doing well at the China Open as well as the Macau Open.
