Formula One paid tribute to critically injured driver Jules Bianchi at the Russian Grand Prix on Sunday.
Bianchi suffered serious head injuries and remains in critical but stable condition in a hospital in Japan, after his car hit a tractor that was removing another crashed car.
A number of drivers, including Bianchi’s teammate Max Chilton, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, joined racing directors and mechanics to pay tribute to the 25 year old Frenchman on the track before the race kicked off. Several drivers also wore messages of support on their helmets and cars.
The Marussia team also displayed a special pit board, which read “17: Racing for Jules” while the team members helmets were emblazoned with #JB17 messages.
The race was won by Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton, with his team mate Nico Rosberg in second and Williams-Mercedes Valtteri Bottas in third.
