Malaysia has set a target of 7 out of 12 possible gold medals in the first Asean Civil Service Games (ACSG), to be held from November 15 to 19.
ACSG tournament secretary Ahmad Faedzal Md Ramli stated that Malaysia are aware of the expectations that need to be met as the host, including overcoming tough competitors from other countries.
“We are targeting gold medals in badminton, futsal and table tennis. Our athletes are not just civil servants but some are current national athletes and former ones.”
“With shuttlers such as Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin and veteran Wong Choong Hann on our side, we are confident on achieving our mission,” he told The Malaysian Insider.
The ACSG in Kuala Lumpur will feature five sports; futsal, badminton, tenpin bowling, table tennis and golf, with more than 550 civil servants involved from 10 Asean countries.
Representing Malaysia will be 60 civil servants, who will participate in all five sports contested.
