Independent shuttler Zulfadli Zulkiffli is refusing to give up on his chances of making it to the Olympics Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, next year.
The 2011 world junior champion said that the sudden spike in his confidence is due to his string of eye-catching performances, which makes him worthy of a spot in Rio.
“I still have a chance to qualify because two players will be chosen from each country, provided that they are in the top 15 of the world rankings.
“As for now, I’m ranked 30th overall. But that could change tomorrow when the new rankings are announced, with me moving up few places to 23rd or 24th spot.”
“So practically speaking, I have few more steps till I reach the top 15,” said Zulfadli, as quoted by Berita Harian.
Zulfadli has six more tournaments before the New Year, to prove himself, starting with the Korea Master Championship from 3-8 November.
His best achievement this year year was being the finalist at the Sydney International Championship and reaching the semi-finals of the Russia Open.
