Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT)’s Luciano Figueroa is delighted after being given the “green light” to play in the AFC Cup final against FC Istiklol in Tajikistan this coming October 31.
According to a statement by Asean Football Confederation (AFC), Figueroa is free from any suspensions and is allowed to represent his club in the final.
The Argentinian forward, more known as “Lucho”, said he was not taking any chances of missing on the most prestigious club competition on an Asian club level.
“This news is important not only for me, but also for JDT.”
“Now I can fully concentrate in preparation against Istiklol. I’m truly looking forward to this match as both teams have not won the AFC Cup previously, which makes it even more thrilling.”
“I’m optimistic that we are able to spring a surprise, although our opponent seem to have the upper hand of playing at home,” he told Arena Metro.
Figueroa has been out of action since his red card against South China SC in the quarter finals, receiving a two match ban.
Without his services, the Southern Tigers have suffered up front, mainly losing in the first leg semi-final against Al-Qadsia SC, before eventually having an automatic walk-through to the final after Kuwait FA was suspended by FIFA.
