The combination of Ridzwan Rahmat and Misbun Shawal Misbun proved fruitful as the pair showcased their ability by winning the men’s doubles title in the Egypt Open.
Ridzwan-Misbun Shawal, who are under the Nusa Mahsuri Badminton Club, defeated Bahaedeen Ahmad Al Shannik-Mohd Naser Mansour Nayef of Jordan 21-15, 17-21, 21-16 in the final.
The victory is their first title won at an international level, ever since they were paired together.
Prior to that, Ridzwan-Misbun Shawal pulled an upset by dumping out the tournament’s first seeded pair, Ali Ahmed El Khateeb-Abdelrahman Kashkal from Egypt in the semi-finals.
“I’m certainly proud to be gaining my first international title since I turned professional. I hope to continue this success in the future,” said Ridzwan, as stated in Arena Metro.
Ridzwan, however, had his hopes dashed in the men singles category, where he only managed to progress to the quarter finals, before bowing out to Uganda’s Edwin Ekiring.
