Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic won his sixth ATP China Open title after beating Rafael Nadal in what was a rather one-sided final in Beijing yesterday.
Having cruised past David Ferrer in the semis, Djokovic showed his intentions from the get-go, pushing Nadal to his limits, before winning the first set 6-2.
The world number continued the similar tempo in the second set, relentlessly going on the offence against Nadal, allowing him to wrap up a comfortable 6-2, 6-2 win.
“This definitely has been my most successful tournament in my career,” Djokovic said. “I’ve won the Australian Open five times but Beijing has been a lucky place for me.
Back in 2008 I remember at the Olympic Games when Rafa won the gold medal (Djokovic won bronze) we had some memorable moments and that’s when the tradition of tennis in this city started.
“I keep on coming back here with positive memories and positive memories on the court obviously and the fans are very loyal and supportive and give me strength and reason to come back every year,” he added.
