It wouldn’t be entirely unfair to suggest that the shift in modern football has seen a major decrease in the amount of traditional strikers within the market. They still exist, but the number has significantly dropped.
But last night, Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski continued to prove why such a striker can still be incredibly relevant to modern football methods. Despite his goalscoring prowess, the Polish forward has been criticized at times, for his one-dimensional approach.
Against Wolfsburg though, he was hardly one-dimensional. The ex-Dortmund man came off the bench to score five goals in the space of nine minutes, inspiring Bayern to a comfortable win over their close rivals!
