Shinji Kagawa has shown signs of a concussion that will prevent him from playing in Japan’s friendly against Brazil this Tuesday, the Japan Football Association announced yesterday.
The Borussia Dortmund player suffered a knock to the jaw in Japan’s 1 – 0 over Jamaica yesterday, which resulted in the player bleeding from his mouth.
Despite playing the full length of the game following the unfortunate incident, Kagawa was reported to have felt dizzy and was rushed to the hospital after the match for tests.
The player previously suffered such an injury back in August during his last game for Manchester United against MK Dons in the Capital One Cup, which his former side lost.
Kagawa returned to his former club Dortmund in the summer transfer window, but has failed to make much of an impact for the German side past his goal and assist in his first game back against Freiburg last month.
The midfielder’s absence will surely be felt both by Japan and by his fans in Singapore where the friendly against Brazil is to be played at Singapore’s new 55,000 capacity national stadium.
Dortmund is scheduled to open their first representative office outside of Germany in Singapore in four days’ time on October 15th, following heightening interest in the club from Asian countries.
