The National Football Development Programme (NFDP) which is responsible to produce more quality and talented young players has announced a strategic relationship with English Championship club Queens Park Rangers (QPR) in London on Wednesday.
Through this tie-up, QPR, majority-owned by Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, will provide financial, technical and other long-term developmental assistance to the government body NFDP.
According to NFDP Supporting Unit Director Safirul Azli Abu Bakar, this initiative will boost the organization’s chances of fulfilling their aim, which includes the development of broad-based grassroots talent in football.
“This is certainly a huge advantage for our side. For example, QPR coaches will be here to share their experiences besides our players having the chance to train at their club,” he told Arena Metro.
The announcement was made ahead of QPR’s Championship match against Blackburn Rovers at their Loftus Road ground, with QPR represented by football director Les Ferdinand while NFDP project director Lim Teong Kim appeared on behalf of the Malaysian side.
