Marc Marquez admits staying on slicks at a wet Aragon was “really stupid” of him, but he plans to still take risks at Motegi this weekend, in a bid to seal the 2014 MotoGP title.
Both Marquez and his Honda team-mate, Dani Pedrosa, remained out on slicks as a rain shower hit during the last round at Aragon, despite the rest of the field changing to wet-shod bikes.
The both of them ended up crashing and could only finish 13th and 14th respectively when they rejoined. It was the Spaniard’s second straight fall in a race, after chasing Valentino Rossi for the Misano lead just a fortnight earlier.
Prior to his bad stroke of luck, Marquez was actually on course to wrap up the 2014 crown at Aragon. He could likely still do so at Motegi this weekend, if he manages to maintain or improve his current 75-point lead over Pedrosa.
Marquez however adds, that it does not matter to him if it takes him longer to secure the championship, as there are still four races to come after Japan.
