Fernando Alonso admits he is unsure of his future in Formula 1 next season, as he inches towards the exit door at Ferrari.
The Spaniard, who was initially thought to hold the keys to the 2015 driver market, reveals that he was caught by surprise when Sebastian Vettel confirmed that he would be leaving Red Bull at the end of the season.
According to the four-time world champion’s current team principal, Christian Horner, the German ace is bound for Ferrari, as a likely replacement for Alonso. This, following the Spaniard’s deteriorating relationship with the Italian team over the past few months.
In a recent tweet to NBCSN’s Will Buxton, Alonso stressed that even though he doesn’t know if he’ll be racing in Formula One next season, he is still keen on remaining in the sport.
Alonso has been linked with a return to McLaren, though nothing has been confirmed by both parties just yet.
