Lee Chong Wei has been handed a rather reasonable opening draw for this week’s Korea Open, which will allow him to bounce back from his disappointing outing at the Japan Open last week.
The former world number one had to face arch rival Lin Dan in the second round of the Japan Open, and was sent packing after a frustrating match.
But in Korea, he will not face any of the in-form shuttlers in the early rounds, which allows him a golden opportunity to progress further than he did in Japan.
Should he progress pass the qualifying stages, Chong Wei will most likely meet Germany’s Marc Zwiebler in the first round, though BAM’s Morten Frost thinks even that could be tricky.
“I always think he’s capable of going all the way, even though I don’t think the draw is any easier,” he told Harian Metro.
“Chong Wei is still hungry for success and as it stands, he remains one of the most talented players in the sport. He just needs a little more time to get back to his best, after the entire doping fiasco,” he added.
