Datuk K. Rajagopal has been officially appointed as the new head coach of Sarawak FA, to replace Robert Alberts, who was sacked two months ago.
The 59 year-old has been handed the responsibility of guiding Sarawak through the Malaysia Cup, which gets underway this weekend.
Despite unceremoniously exiting the national team last year, Datuk K. Rajagopal boasts an impressive record as Malaysia’s head coach, winning the 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup. He also led the national Under 23’s side in claiming their first gold medal in 20 years at the 2009 Southeast Asian Games in Laos.
With the appointment of Rajagopal, Sarawak – who are widely known as “The Crocs” – will be looking to do well in the Malaysia Cup, as well as in the Malaysia Super League next season.
Sarawak is in Group B of the Malaysia Cup, drawn against giants Johor Darul Takzim (JDT), Perak and Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM).
