Safiq urges teammates to move on from UAE humiliation

Malaysian skipper, Safiq Rahim has urged his teammates to bounce back from the UAE defeat and work their socks off against Saud Arabia at the Shah Alam Stadium tonight.

The Malaysian national team has been under duress over the past few days, after their 10-0 defeat to UAE last week –  a result that promoted Dollah Salleh to resign from his head coach position.

But Safiq though, has asked his teammates to move on from their defeat and maintain a positive attitude as they prepare for what will undoubtedly be a difficult clash.

“As a player you have to do it, we have to continue to fight even after what happened. We must not look back. Instead, we must look forward. We will try to get a positive result for the remaining fixtures,” he told Harian Metro.

“We will use our home advantage as a motivation. I believe Saudi Arabia has a new coach, new players and that is similar with our team,” he added.

The last time both sides faced each other, Saudi Arabia ran out as 4-1 victors, with Safiq Rahim scoring Malaysia’s only goal in the game.
