Confidence is my weakness – Nur Dhabitah

Teenage diver Nur Dhabitah Sabri has expressed her desire to participate in more international tournaments to gain exposure, in order to increase her confidence level.

Dhabitah, 16, said she still lacks self assurance despite having a career best bronze medal win at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, last year.

“My weakness has always been about my level of self-belief, especially in big events. I seldom participate in these international competitions and meet divers across the world, so I’m always nervous,” she told Bernama.

The teenager added that her weak point is also in her way of securing an automatic qualification to next year’s Rio Olympics, despite having the home advantage at the Asian Cup Diving Championship which begins this Friday.

“Divers from China are present; few of them have already secured their qualification to the Olympics, and the young athletes have high standards as well.”

Dhabitah will be joining Ng Yan Yee in the women’s 3m synchronized springboard event, besides taking part in the 3m individual spring board event and the 10m individual platform event in the Asian Cup, held at National Aquatic Centre, Bukit Jalil.
