Malaysian historian and sports critic, Tan Sri Khoo Kay Kim has commented on Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM)’s efforts on persuading shuttler Zulfadli Zulkifli to join them, stating that it is a total waste of time.
According to Kay Kim, the badminton organization has to put an end to the issue and start paying more attention to other players who are under them.
“I don’t know the reason behind Zullfadli’s refusal to join BAM, that’s between both the sides. I heard there have been many discussions which took place but nothing have been sorted out.”
“To me, this issue has been going on for too long. Give him (Zulfadli) a last chance to discuss, and if ever he turns it down, end the discussion and leave him on his own.”
“Instead of wasting time on one player, BAM better be off focusing on other young players who are already under them. Train them and who knows, there might be more than one badminton players who will replace Lee Chong Wei in the future,” said Kay Kim, as quoted by Harian Metro.
Kay Kim, however, also advised Zulfadli to keep track of his career, which has not grown since he won the World Junior Title in 2011.
“Zulfadli has to come up with different plans to improve his game play if he doesn’t join BAM. At the age of 22, he should be a far more matured player.”
“At the same time, I hope BAM continues to support him even if he does not join them.”
