The popularity of the online sport is such that gamers now are able to participate in competitions and win prize money worth more than $10 million!
It may be hard to believe in certain parts of the world, but eSports have been well known to be a reliable source of income for professionals, much like in sports.
This was further illustrated last weekend, where 16-year-old Pakistani Sumail Hassan Syed, became the youngest gamer to earn $1 million in eSports winnings through The International Dota2 Championships in Seattle, US.
The grand showpiece of Valve’s popular online battle arena Dota 2 (Defense of Ancients 2) also offered a mouth-watering prize pot of $18, 377, 817.01 – the largest prize pool in eSports so far.
