Twins Muhammad Syuaib Mohamad and Muhammad Syukri Mohamad have been presented with an unexpected opportunity through the Allianz Junior Football Camp (AJFC) Asia in Bali, which resulted in them being picked for the AJFC in Munich, this August 13.
They overcame 32 camp participants from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan and South Korea to grab the chance to train in the Bayern Munich training centre.
The twin brothers were chosen as wildcards based on their performances on and off the field, and will join three more junior players – Mohd Izzudin Roslan, N. Thineswaran and Mohd Amirul Husaini Zamri – who were selected earlier through the AJFC League.
According to Muhammad Syukri, the training will provide them a chance to improve their skill level, as well as learning new ones.
“It is an amazing chance to make new friends from different countries, and I had a valuable experience to train with the women’s football team from Korea,” added his twin brother, Muhammad Syuaib as stated in Harian Metro.
During their time in Bali, the junior participants who are aged 14-16 years had the guidance of Bayern Munich youth team coach, Timon Pauls.
“As Munich’s youth players coach, it has been a challenge for me to share our way of training with the football fans around the world. This camp has presented a unique chance for youth’s from Asia to exchange experiences as well as picking up new skills along the process,” Pauls commented.
A total of 75 youths from 29 countries are expected to join AJFC Munich this year, making it more than 300 participants overall to join since the inaugural AJFC in 2009.
