World Championships: Malaysian duo prepared to fire on all cylinders

National women doubles’ shuttlers Vivian Kho and Woon Khe Wei may have not been hitting ideal heights in recent months but they are determined to leave no stone unturned when the Jakarta World Championships gets underway this weekend.

After winning gold at the Commonwealth Games about one year ago, the duo have struggled for form – even failing to retain their gold medal at the SEA Games in June.

But since then, both individuals have been tediously preparing for the World Championships and they are hoping to hit the ground running in Jakarta.

“I’m certainly hoping that we get back to our best, considering how poor we’ve been in recent months,” Vivian Kho told Harian Metro.

“We have been constantly analysing our performance to spot flaws within our style, before trying to find a solution for it. Which is why we are far more alert about fitness and several other aspects now.

“Also, a few months back, we didn’t train as much as we would have liked to. But this time around, we had complete three weeks to prepare for the World Championships,” she added.
