Stephen van Huizen remains coy on head coach rumours

While he is almost certain to be first in line for the head coach job of the national hockey squad, Stephen Van Huizen is not keen on being dragged into a discussion on it for the time being.

Van Huizen refused to comment on ongoing issue, instead opting to wait for the decision to be confirmed during the Executive Board Meeting of the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) which will take place this August 15.

“Speculations will always remain as it is. I have nothing to say for now. Let the people who know better, make the wise decision,” he said when contacted yesterday by Harian Metro.

He also had no comments when asked whether or not he is ready to take over as the senior head coach if the position is offered.

In the mean time, Muhammad Dhaarma Raj Abdullah, who will reportedly replace Mohd Nasihin Nubli Ibrahim as the senior head coach of the women’s team, is on par with Van Huizen regarding the matter.

Nevertheless, Dhaarma did admit that he is ready to be back in service for the national squad if required.

“Not much can be said at the moment. But I’m open to being back working with MHC, no matter what position is offered to me.”
