Malaysia very own Dota 2 team, Fnatic are out of The International Dota 2 Championship after suffering a defeat in their first round tie against Virtus Pro from Russia.
With the event being screened on Astro Supersport, the pre-tournament hype surrounding Fnatic was predictably huge and this was also amplified by the fact that they were led by the experienced Dota 2 star, Mushi.

But their form in the group stages ended up being relatively poor and that culminated in their defeat against Virtus Pro earlier today. Mushi, who usually leads the attack, adopted a support role in this match with KecikImba taking over the lead role instead. But the new strategy failed as the Russians ran riot en route to victory.
Virtus Pro’s victory means that they will earn a payout of at least $216,542, while Fnatic will earn an amount that would be four times lesser than that.
The T15 is turning out to be one of the most competitive editions of the tournament, with TI1 winner Na’ Vi and T14 winner NewBee – who are the defending champions – also getting eliminated in the early stages as well.
