Sime Darby’s journey in the Super League has come to an end after they recorded their 11th consecutive loss in a row following their 4-2 defeat at the hands of Pahang, on Saturday.
The squad, nicknamed the Giant Killers, fell flat in maintaining their momentum going from a successful previous season, which saw them failing to register any wins in the league this time.
They will now compete in the Premier League for the upcoming season.
Right after the match held in Selayang Municipalities Stadium, Coach Ismail Zakaria conveyed his disappointment of watching his team’s poor performances in all 16 matches earlier on.
He also credited his players, stating that they can’t be 100% blamed for all the defeats, as they were unlucky.
“It’s true that we needed the win badly tonight (Saturday) in order to better our chances of getting out of the relegation zone.”
“But as you can see, we played well in the early moments of the match and controlled the game flow, only to find out that luck is on the wrong side of us.”
“I’m truly let down by the results, as the players are too, but this is what we were capable of this season. Hopefully next season will bring more luck onto our side,” he said, as quoted by Arena Metro, yesterday.
