Football Association of Malaysia has urged the Kelantan Football Association to stop jumping to conclusions and start preparing the necessary paperwork to file an appeal on their ongoing legal case with former head coach Steve Darby.
KAFA currently owe Steve a total of RM636,000, an amount that was agreed upon his dismissal in April 2014. Due to KAFA’s lack of response the case was brought to FAM’s attention by Steve and his lawyers.
The governing body has apparently issued a statement to KAFA, requesting them to get in touch with Steve to sort the matter out and they were also quick to point out that KAFA should not be treating FAM like an enemy in this matter.
“In this case, KAFA need to discuss things with Steve and appoint a legal representative,” FAM Secretary General Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin told Harian Metro.
“Tan Sri Annuar Musa did contact me and I’ve explained the decision. KAFA still has room to appeal on the payment amount.
“I’d also like to advise teams to not make any assumptions on the rules and regulations, as they can always come to us to clarify things. They should not treat us like enemies,” he added.
This comes after Tan Sri Annuar Musa expressed his frustration with FAM through his official Facebook page; claiming that FAM does not value and protect the rights of its members.
Considering the official letter has been sent to KAFA, they will now have 14 days to file an appeal. Should FAM not receive an appeal within the predetermined period, KAFA will be required to pay the full amount to Steve Darby.
