Wimbledon’s strict rules hitting ridiculous heights

There has been much criticism for the past week when it came to Wimbledon’s famous “all white” clothing, with players claiming that the strict dress code has gone to the extreme till it’s completely “ridiculous”.

Even seven-time winner, Roger Federer, voiced out his frustration on the rule which insists the usage of white clothes, mainly.

“I love Wimbledon but they’ve gone too far now. The rules have become ridiculously strict,” said the Swiss star.

“We’re all white. White, white, full-on white. If you look at pictures of past players – Edberg, Becker, there were some colours, you know, but it was ‘all white’.” Federer told the Malaysian Insider.

It was stated last year that Danish Caroline Wozniacki, found it “a little creepy” as reports appeared about officials checking the colour of women’s underwear before any match.

Following that, Canadian Eugenie Bouchard was fouled after seen wearing a black bra underneath this week.

Federer’s statement was supported by American player Bethanie Mattek-Sands, who added that she didn’t even get married in white.

I feel it’s actually gotten a little excessive. You can’t even wear off-white or cream. I was like, man, if you wash your whites too many times, they will be illegal. Better be washing it in cold water,” added Mattek-Sands as stated in Sports 24/7.
