Djokovic vows to defend Wimbledon title

Three weeks after his despairing French Open final defeat to Stan Wawrinka, Novak Djokovic has high hopes of defending his Wimbledon title and to erase his disheartening memories in Paris.

The top seed had been distancing himself from the media ever since his defeat in the Roland Garros, which could have completed his career Grand Slam.

The French Open is the only Grand Slam event that has yet to be won by the Serbian.

The other players have laid their comments upon Djokovic’s aim to excel in the Wimbledon.

“I’m sure after losing the French Open final he wants more, he wants to come back and win the next big one,” said Wawrinka.

“He is the champion, the world number one and plays well on grass,” said seven-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer.

28 year-old Djokovic will be playing against Frenchman Richard Gasquet in an exhibition match in The Boodles event at Stoke Park.
