Lee Chong Wei has successfully advanced to the quarter finals of the US Open Grand Prix Gold held at the Suffolk Country Community College, New York.
The former world number one took only 43 minutes to oust China’s Guo Kai in straight sets in the third round. Chong Wei calmly defeated the Chinese 21-17 in the first set before claiming the intense second set 22-20.
Chong Wei will now set-up a quarter final clash with eleventh seed, Rajiv Ouseph of England, who downed China’s Zhu Siyuan 21-11 and 21-8.
