The men’s badminton team, led by former number one Lee Chong Wei successfully downed Cambodia 3-0 yesterday.
Current national number one Chong Wei Feng presented a great start for Malaysia when he defeated Chanmara Tep in straight sets 21-7 and 21-11 under 20 minutes whereas captain Chong Wei extended the lead with an easy win against Cheng Phor Rhom as he took only 13 minutes to oust the Cambodian 21-10 and 21-5.
Men’s doubles pair Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong then concluded the event by serving a great 3-0 through their 21-8, 21-11 victory against Teav Yong Vannak and Nguon Kanora.
Both the men and women’s team will be facing an uphill battle against Indonesia in the semi finals today.
