Datuk Ong Kim Swee’s men were given an absolute footballing lesson by their Vietnamese counterparts; suffering a 5-1 defeat in their second SEA Games match earlier today.
Vietnam were 2-0 up in the first half, before racing to a 4-0 lead within 8 minutes of the second half. Syahrul Azwari managed to reduce the deficit on the 78th minute mark, but Vietnam made it 5-1 just a minute later, courtesy of Nguyen Van Toan’s fine finish.
The defeat means that Malaysia have a total of 3 points from their first two games. They will now be required to beat Thailand in their next match, to stand any chance of making it through to the next round.
More to come…
